Tour overview
Discover the ancient ruins of Sidon Sea Castle, the Castle of Saint-Louis and the 16th-century Great Mosque in Sidon. View the Hezbollah Resistance Museum or the Tourist Landmark of the Resistance. Sidon: The entrance to Sidon from the north on a wide divided highway lined with palm trees. As you approach, the landmark Crusader Sea Castle and modern port installations are immediately visible. The busy main street full of small shops of every kind, including patisseries, whose oriental delicacies stacked in little pyramids . Along with the city of Tyre, Sidon was the most powerful city-state of ancient Phoenicia and first manufactured the purple dye which made Tyre famous and was so rare and expensive that the color purple became synonymous with royalty. Tyre: Greek, Roman and Byzantine remains mingle in two archaeological sites open to visitors. One set of excavated ruins on the Old Town’s southern end—it used to be an island before Alexander the Great built a causeway to it and centuries of silt filled in the rest. About half an hour’s walk to the east is the other archaeological site, which includes a Roman necropolis, triumphal arch, aqueduct and the reconstructed Hippodrome (used in the film Ben Hur).. Mleeta Museum: The Hezbollah Resistance Museum or the Tourist Landmark of the Resistance, as it officially known. Is an open air war museum created by the Islamic militant organization Hezbollah to commemorate the battles . As they fought against the Israeli troops in and around the site the museum occupies today. The museum is located in the Southern Lebanese city of Mlita, 50 kilometers north of the Palestinian-Lebanese border. Learn more about our lebanon tourism in Lebanon. The best thing about going back to a place you loved is seeing that everything that was great is still there. Every single member of the staff says hello and asks you about your well-being.
