Jeita Grotto: The Jeita Grotto is system of two separate, but interconnected karstic limestone spanning overall length nearly 9 meters . The caves situated in the Nahr al-Kalb valley within the locality of Jeita,with 18 kilometers north the Lebanese capital Beirut . Inhabited prehistoric times, the lower cave not discovered by Reverend William Thomson . It only visited by boat since channels underground river provides fresh drinking water to more than a million Lebanese . In 1958, Lebanese speleologists discovered upper galleries 60 meters above the lower cave which been accommodated with access tunnel . No sooner , a series of walkways enable tourists safe with access without disturbing the natural landscape.
The upper galleries house the world’s largest known stalactite. The galleries composed of a series of chambers the largest of which peaks at a height of 12 meters . Besides from being Lebanese national symbol and top tourist destination, Jeita grotto plays an important social, cultural role in country. It was one of the top 14 finalists in the New 7 Wonders of Nature competition.
Faraya; Faraya is the name of the village just below the actual slopes in Ouyoune El-Simane; however, the whole area is located in Kfardebian village which includes the best-equipped and most popular resort in Lebanon, the Mzaar Ski Resort. The resort has 42 slopes and 80 kilometers of ski tracks. Basically, The skiing season in Lebanon is similar in length to that of the Alps stretching over 4 months. Also, Skiers, snowboarders, snowmobile addicts, cross-country lovers, and paragliders come to the resort from all parts of the country.
Starting at 1850m, you may reach the 2465m top of Mzaar and enjoy the breathtaking view over the colorful Bekaa valley, Mount Hermon of the Anti-Lebanon, and other peaks like Laqlouq and the Cedars. Coastal towns and even Beirut the capital seen on a clear day. Those who want a break from skiing might visit the stunning 30-meter natural bridge of Kfardebian formed by wind and water erosion,and also the ruins of a Phoenician temple and a Roman tower.
